Wednesday Bases

Now 13-12 (-049) on the season.

Barry Zito is on his longest winning streak since a six-game run in 2006.
Zito has posted a 0.68 ERA while winning his last four starts against the Marlins (13-13). Two of those came last season, including a 2-1 victory in Florida on June 5.

Meanwhile, Marlins left-hander Nate Robertson (2-2, 5.18) ended April with a pair of losses. He gave up five runs, five hits and four walks over four innings in each outing.

I'll give the nod to the Giants at (-131)

Good Luck!

Saturday Bases

Record is now 11-11 (-161)

Saturday's play is over 9.5 (-105) in the Florida Marlins vs Washington Nationals game.

The Nationals start Craig Stammen. He is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA and a .318 BAA. Last year against the Marlins he had an ERA of 10.29 and a BAA of .433. At Dolphin Stadium his ERA was 5.06 and his BAA was .333. In his one road game this year he was shelled. 7 hits in 1.1 innings, leading to a road ERA of 47.25 and a .700 BAA.

The question is will the Nats get to Volstad. On the year he is 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA and a .239 BAA. Volstad has faced the Nats for 16.2 innings, in those 16.2 innings, he allowed 22 hits and 16 walks, leading to a 6.48 ERA and a BAA of .319. It's not like Volstad is pitching all that well right now anyway. In his last 2 starts, he went 10.1 innings, allowing 12 hits, with 4 walks and only 2 strikeouts.

The Marlins are 8-3 to the over this year and 12-4 to the over against righties.

Good Luck!

Saturday Bases

Now 6-6 (-133) on the season.

The Philadelphia Phillies are off to their best start in 17 years, and are now 3-1 at home. Moyer is 13-4 with a 2.93 ERA in 17 starts against the Marlins, and if he gets the same type of run support that he did in his last outing, he will win again. Today's pick is the Phillies (-108).

Good Luck!

Back on track as our Over came in. Now 5-6 (-233) on the season.

Today we like the Philadelphia Phillies with Halladay to handle the Florida Marlins with ease. Phillies -1.5 (-120).

Good Luck!

Saturday's play is on West!

Now standing at 3-1-1 for the week.

The Marlins start rookie 6 foot 8 inch left handed pitcher, Sean West. If he can keep his walks down, he is almost un-hitable. For the year he is 3-3 with a 4.47 ERA and a .230 batting average against. On the road he is 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA. but his road batting average against is only .182. For the month of July his ERA is 7.50, but yet his batting average against is only .200. That tells me he has gotten victimized by a few untimely hits. What helps us here is the fact that the Diamondbacks stink against lefties, batting only .230 against them and averaging only 3.6 runs against.

Meanwhile the Diamondbacks start Jon Garland. He is 4-8 on the year with a 4.80 ERA and a .293 batting average against. For the month of July his batting average against is .292. At home this year he is 2-4 with a 7.15 ERA and a .330 batting average against. Over his last 3 starts, he allowed 27 men on base in 18.1 innings. He is 1-0 against Florida this year with a 1.50 ERA, but with a .304 batting average against. The Marlins will get to him tonight.

Today's value play is the Florida Marlins (+108)
